Heritage Builders was founded in 1995 by six parents with a passion for helping others be intentional
about passing on a Godly heritage to their children. From 1996-2006, Focus on the Family developed
the ministry expanding its resources and presence. Our resources have been featured and offered
by Family Life, Promise Keepers, and the Billy Graham Evangelical Association. In 2007, Heritage
Builders was spun off to focus on its primary calling of training and equipping parents to pass the
faith to the next generation. The ministry not only works with parents but also with and through
churches to educate, equip and encourage parents in the spiritual formation process at home.

By providing tools that help equip and train parents, Heritage Builders is a successful ministry that
reaches around the world.

Who we are:

Dr. J. Otis and Gail Ledbetter

Otis is the senior pastor of Sonrise Church; and president of Clovis Christian
School in Clovis, California. His wife, Gail, is a high school teacher at Clovis
Christian School. They have three grown children and seven grand children.
Together they have published six books on leaving a positive, intentional
spiritual legacy. Otis is one of the original co-founders of Heritage Builders.

Jim and Janet Weidmann

Jim and Janet have been married for over 28 years and have four children. Jim is
the Executive Director of Heritage Builders and has served as the Sr. VP/COO of
Promise Keepers, Vice Chairman of the National Day of Prayer Taskforce, and a
cabinet member of Focus on the Family. Janet is a Director with Creative
Memories, a Dental Hygienist, and a homemaker. Together they have published
over 17 books on spiritual leadership within the home, including the Family Night
Tool Chest series and Spiritual Milestones. Jim is also the voice of the Family
Night Guy radio feature heard on more than 2,600 stations nation wide.

Kurt and Olivia Bruner

Kurt served for twenty years with Focus on the Family, including eight years as
Vice President of Focus on the Family's Resource Group, where he led the team
creating films, books, magazines, and radio drama including the popular
Adventures in Odyssey and Chronicles of Narnia series. He is the pastor of
Spiritual Formation at Lake Pointe Church and also heads up the Innovation
Alliance with The Center for Strong Families. Olivia is a former school teacher
who currently serves on the faculty of The Center for Strong Families. They

Dr. Sherman Smith

Sherman is the author of eight books including the best sellers: Exploding the
Doomsday Money Myths, Lie 2K, and Put Your Money Where Your Heart Is. He is a
former pastor, a former Registered Principal on the New York Stock Exchange, has
an earned MBA in International Business, and a Ph.D. in Business Management.
Sherman is the author of three seminars including Financial Communication in the
Family, Straight Talk about Biblical Finances, and How to Double Your Church
Financial Base. He brings to Heritage Builders an extensive ministry in financial
management, and his message to families is economically and Biblically sound for
"times such as these." Sherman is the Executive Pastor of Sonrise Church in
Clovis, California. He is married to Kathy who is the Dean of Students at Clovis
Christian Schools.
